20 March 17:00-19:00A Working Lab
On stage
Peyman Kelk
Peyman Kelk is Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at the Departments of Medical and Translational Biology, and Dentistry. He is also clinically active as a specialist in oral prosthodontics. Peyman has had several ideas that he has tried to push towards commercialization. The innovations have been very different, but always with the mouth and teeth in focus. He has also worked with different people in the various projects. Today, together with researchers from Uppsala, Peyman has a project that has been accepted at Umeå Biotech Incubator. The goal of this project is to create a bone regenerating material to be used in different types of bone defects. What is it that drives Peyman to repeatedly spend time and money to further develop his research results? What has he learned during his previous 'journeys'?
Niklas Arnberg
Niklas Arnberg is a Professor of clinical microbiology. You probably heard Niklas in various media in connection with the corona pandemic. In addition to his academic career, he has also run a company to develop drugs against viral infections. One of the substances got as far as clinical studies. During this meeting, Niklas will talk about his experiences of running a project all the way to clinical trials, and also what it has meant for the continued work both inside and outside academia. Has it enriched the research? Or has it taken time away from his work at the university? Would he make the trip again if he had the chance?
